A Continent's
Digital Library.

When COVID-19 lockdowns shuttered schools across Africa, millions of secondary students lost access to their education overnight. For many, that absence threatened to become permanent. We chose to respond.

What started as an emergency measure — a simple portal giving students access to textbooks and past papers on their phones — evolved into a sustained educational infrastructure. Through the pandemic and beyond, we served individual learners and entire school communities, demonstrating that quality education could be delivered digitally, affordably, and at scale.

Today, we are eLibrary Africa — a continental digital education platform, partnering with publishers, authors and national curriculum bodies to deliver verified, syllabus-aligned content in every country we enter.

Our commitment is simple: every African student deserves access to the same quality of education, regardless of their postcode, their income, or the infrastructure around them.

1
2020
Founded in a Crisis
When COVID-19 lockdowns severed millions of students from their education, we launched a digital solution — providing instant, unrestricted access to quality learning materials through a simple mobile interface. No textbook. No classroom. No barrier.
2
2021 – 2023
Growing Alongside Our Learners
From serving individual students, we scaled to institution-level partnerships — onboarding schools with comprehensive packages spanning every year group. Secure, OTP-verified accounts replaced passwords, making access both simpler and safer for students in the field.

2024
A Platform Rebuilt for the Continent
A ground-up engineering rebuild delivered a modern, scalable platform: offline-capable PWA, integrated mobile payments, a dedicated publisher portal, and a comprehensive admin dashboard — infrastructure designed not for one country, but for fifty-four.

The African Chapter Begins
With the foundation proven, we turn our focus to the continent. Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana and beyond — each country receiving a localised portal aligned to its national curriculum. One platform. Fifty-four nations. Every learner counted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about eLibrary Africa.

What is eLibrary Africa? +
eLibrary Africa is a continental digital education platform providing students with access to textbooks, notes, past papers and revision materials — all aligned with national secondary school curricula.
Which countries is eLibrary available in? +
We are currently live in Uganda, with expansion to Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria and more actively underway. Check the country picker above for the latest status in your country.
Is there a free option? +
Yes! Every country portal includes a Free Library — a curated selection of resources so students can explore the platform before subscribing. No card or account required.
How do I pay for a subscription? +
Payment methods depend on your country. In Uganda, we use MTN and Airtel Mobile Money. As we expand, local mobile payment options will be available in each country. No bank card needed.
Do I need internet to read? +
eLibrary is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — install it on your phone for fast, one-tap access, just like a native app. Reading itself needs an internet connection, since books stream on demand rather than downloading in full, and we've optimised that streaming for low data usage. Full offline reading is on our roadmap.
I am a publisher or author. Can I list my content? +
Absolutely. We welcome publishers and authors across Africa. Contact us through the publisher portal or WhatsApp to discuss partnerships and revenue sharing.
What if my country is not listed yet? +
Tell us! We are building in order of demand. Reach us on WhatsApp and we will prioritise your country in our expansion roadmap.
